We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant for a full-time, temporary 8 month term, available for immediate start date. Closing date is March 7th, 2019.

Responsibilities:

  • Full knowledge and posting of accounting cycle
  • Manage accounts payable
  • Manage accounts receivable, including Pre-Authorized Debit
  • Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll, including taxable benefit administration
  • Process and file government remittances (HST, WCB, and corporate taxes)
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets and reports
  • Daily bank deposits
  • Manage petty cash
  • Prepare/complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Interface with the management team with various ad hoc requests
  • Back up reception and administration

Requirements:  

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • At least 2 years’ experience in accounting and payroll
  • Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Excel
  • A valid Nova Scotia drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Above average attention to detail
  • Ability to provide excellent service to tenants and other employees
  • Prior experience with Buildium, PowerPay, and/or RBC Express considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act considered an asset

Wage: $18 – $20 per hour based on qualifications

Job Type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 8 month Term

Experience: 2 years accounting
